Notes From the Chef – December 12 – Russia!
Привет (hello)!
Today’s menu features traditional Russian dishes. With the cold weather in full swing we’re reminded of the largest and most vast country in the world, Russia. Russian cuisine originated from the peasant food, which was centered around hearty stews to help warm the body up after a long day in the harsh weather. Because Russia is so large the cuisine has great variation. Today we’re serving up a rich stew of chicken or seitan cooked with tasty vegetables and lots of spices. We’re giving the usually boiled cabbage a kick and sautéing fresh cabbage with chili flakes and lemon juice. We hope you enjoy this trip the old world!
приятного аппетита! (bon appetite)
