Notes From the Chef, December 14, 2011: Pacific Northwest

December 14th, 2011

Today Gastronaut is taking you on a trip up to the cool, green Pacific Northwest for a sample of its notably fresh and local cuisine. The Pacific Northwest provides a bounty of fish, vegetables, and game to create a cuisine influenced by Asian and Native American traditions, which you can see in today’s maple-glazed green beans and pan-seared salmon. In addition to being high in protein, salmon is an excellent source of the omega-3 fatty acids that are essential to human growth and may help prevent heart disease. Salmon is also a great source of Vitamin D, Vitamin B12 and magnesium. Like all of Gastronaut’s seafood, these salmon have been sustainably raised in accordance to the Monterey Bay Aquarium’s seafood watch guidelines. We hope you enjoy!
