Notes from the Chef, December 7, 2011: Remembering Pearl Harbor

December 7th, 2011

Today, Gastronaut remembers the 70th anniversary of the Japanese attack on Pearl Harbor. This event took the lives of over 2,400 servicemen and civilians and drew the United States into the Second World War. We are serving an island-style menu of chicken teriyaki with chicken from Petaluma Farms and our house-made teriyaki sauce. Hawaiian cuisine is a fusion of the many cultures that have traded with or inhabited the Hawaiian Islands, particularly native traditions, Chinese, Filipino, Japanese and American cuisine. We hope you enjoy tonight’s dinner and will join us in remembering our veterans and citizens in uniform.
